Limits

A mailing address is not a permit.

This page is a reading guide, not legal, banking, or tax advice. Rules change by state, by bank, and by the provider’s own location agreement.

Google Business Profile

Google’s guidelines say to use a precise real-world location. P.O. boxes and mailboxes at remote locations are not acceptable. If a business rents a physical mailing address and does not operate there, Google calls that a virtual office and says it is not eligible. A coworking space can be listed only when that office has clear signage, receives customers during business hours, and is staffed during those hours by the business’s own staff.

Banks

A street address that looks commercial can still fail a bank’s physical-address check. Anytime Mailbox’s own homepage says it does not recommend its mailbox as an official business address for that reason. Do not rely on another provider’s marketing sentence that says the opposite. Ask the institution that will open the account.

Company formation

States differ on whether a commercial mail receiving agency can be a principal office, a mailing address, or neither. Forming a company also requires a registered agent with a physical presence in that state. Those are two requirements. Satisfying one does not satisfy the other.

Registered agent

iPostal1 publishes a registered-agent add-on at $99 per year in a listed set of states, including Texas, as of 19 October 2026. Stable publishes a registered-agent add-on at $25 per month per state and says it uses a separate address. Confirm the current state list on the provider’s site before you appoint anyone.

Form 1583

Providers reviewed for this site, including Anytime Mailbox, PostScan Mail, and Alliance, tell customers to complete USPS Form 1583 so a commercial mail receiver may accept the mail. The official form is PS Form 1583. The USPS article on commercial mail receiving agencies did not load during this review, so this page links it instead of paraphrasing it.
